Two years after a 15-year-old died in a hit-and-run crash, his parents said they have found a possible new lead in the case.

A vigil was held Sunday night for Skylar Marion, 15, who died in April 2012 on Mountain Road in Pasadena, according to WBAL TV.

Marion and a friend were walking on the grass along a narrow shoulder of Mountain Road with their backs to traffic when they were struck by a vehicle, CBS Baltimore reports. The vehicle left the scene.

Marion was a student at Chesapeake High School.

Anne Arundel County Police are still looking for the driver of a 1997-2002 Ford Expedition connected to the teen’s death.

At Sunday’s vigil, Marion’s father said a private investigator hired by the family has talked to a new witness. The information was not confirmed by police.

Anne Arundel County Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information that will lead to an arrest. Marion’s family is offering $13,000 on top of the $2,000 for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for their son’s death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-866-7LOCKUP or Text “MCS plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).

The other news stories I've read say the accident happened in April 2013. It's only been one year so this article needs correcting. I hope they catch the driver. What kind of person just leaves after hitting a person with their car? How can they just sit by month after month without turning themself in? I know I couldn't live with myself everyday knowing that his friends and family won't have closure as long as there is an unknown driver among us who didn't care enough to stop and still now doesn't care enough to come forward.
