A Maryland police dog was killed Saturday night while his handler was making a traffic stop, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Facebook Page.

K9 Ike was struck and killed by a vehicle near the intersection of Race Track Road and Route 50 at about 10 p.m. in Worcester County.

His handler had made a traffic stop of a vehicle and was speaking to the driver when K9 Ike alerted to something outside of the patrol car and jumped out of an open window. Ike was then struck by a passing vehicle, according to the website Officer Down Memorial Page.
