Thief Steals Debit Card, ID Cards From Unlocked Car

Annapolis police say someone used the debit card to withdraw money and make purchases.

An Annapolis couple had their debit card, Social Security cards and other documentation stolen from their parked car, according to city police.

The couple told police that they left the doors of their 2008 Nissan Altima unlocked after parking at the 7-Eleven at 1527 Forest Dr. between 2 and 3 p.m. on Dec. 23.

During that time someone opened the car and stole a brown and blue envelope from the center console, which contained a debit card, three Social Security cards and several other documents.

Anne Arundel County Police took an initial report last week, but the couple called Annapolis police on Monday after fraudulent charges showed up on their bank statement.

A person or persons used the card to make a $20 cash withdrawal from the Shell Gas Station at 2232 Bay Ridge Ave and rent $4.66 worth of DVDs from RedBox, according to the police report.

In a separate incident, officers are still searching for a woman who is believed to have used credit cards stolen from a parked car in Eastport for a $6,300 shopping spree during Christmas.

These kind of foul crimes almost make me want to stop keeping debit cards, credit cards, gift cards and cash in my unlocked car. Its a real shame.
