Woman Robbed, Threatened with Rape in Eastport

Police say a man told an Annapolis woman he had a gun, grabbed her purse and hit her.

An Annapolis woman reported being threatened with rape during a robbery in Eastport early Saturday morning, according to Annapolis Police.

The woman told officers she was walking alone on Bay Ridge Avenue near Adams Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a man approached her from behind. He reportedly said, "I am gong to rape you if you don’t follow my order."

She told police the man said he had a gun, grabbed her purse and hit her in the back of the head. According to police, the woman said she fell on the sidewalk and struggled to keep her purse but the man eventually managed to get the bag and fled toward Eastport Elementary School.

She had an iPhone, wallet, driver's license and house keys inside the purse, according to a police report.

The attack left the woman bruised on her hands and feet, but she declined medical treatment.

Police are withholding a description of the assailant due to the on going investigation.
