A member of the Senate reportedly called out Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop Tuesday for citing false information in his testimony against the legalization of marijuana.

"The first day of legalization, that’s when Colorado experienced 37 deaths that day from overdose on marijuana," Pristoop said before the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, according to BuzzFeed.

Senator Jamie Raskin, D-Montgomery County, who was sponsoring legislation to legalize marijuana, reportedly corrected Pristoop once he was finished speaking.

Raskin said the story was fabricated and pulled it up on his laptop, attributing it to a satirical site like Comedy Central, according to WBAL.

The story originated on The Daily Currant, a competitor of The Onion, which produces satirical stories.

"I apologize for the information I provided concerning the deaths. I believed the information I obtained was accurate but I now know the story is nothing more than an urban legend," Pristoop said in a statement the Annapolis Police Department released Tuesday night.

Pristoop said: This does not take away from the other facts presented in opposition to legalization or the good work of the Maryland Chiefs and Maryland Sheriffs Associations."

Accordling to WJLA, dozens of police chiefs and sheriffs testified against measures legalizing marijuana.

This is the story the police chief believed, -According to a report in the Rocky Mountain News, 37 people were killed across the state on Jan. 1, the first day the drug became legal for all adults to purchase. Several more are clinging onto life in local emergency rooms and are not expected to survive. “It’s complete chaos here,” says Dr. Jack Shepard, chief of surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver. “I’ve put five college students in body bags since breakfast and more are arriving every minute. “We are seeing cardiac arrests, hypospadias, acquired trimethylaminuria and multiple organ failures. By next week the death toll could go as high as 200, maybe 300. Someone needs to step in and stop this madness. My god, why did we legalize marijuana? What were we thinking?”

Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting! The person creating this should be fired along with Michael Pristoop for revealing himself to so stupid as to belief those lies. On the contrary, there has never been reported a case anywhere in the United States of someone dying of marijuana overdose. I suppose its possible that someone died laughing, the laughing being caused by too much marijuana.

"Pristoop said: This does not take away from the other facts presented in opposition to legalization or the good work of the Maryland Chiefs and Maryland Sheriffs Associations." Actually, that's exactly what it does. For him to believe this obviously ridiculous account of deaths related to marijuana use shows that he is not competent to testify (or even comment) on the subject. The idiocy of the comments he made should disqualify him from his position.

Anyone who has received a speeding ticket in Annapolis should be disappointed in their ability to come up with a plausible excuse. Based on this article, almost anything would work.

This is what the new mayor put in office. Talk about flunkies. This dog is peanuts. It will get real quiet in the back room now when the mayor's real rich friends make their moves on the real big money.
