Residents in an Annapolis community have been warned to avoid swimming, jet skiing, water skiing and other direct water contact because of poor water quality, according to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.
The department issued a water quality advisory Friday for the Bay Ridge Community at Lake Ogleton Clubhouse Pier in Annapolis due to high levels of bacteria in water samples. The samples collected on June 9 (262 mpn*/100 milliliters of water) and June 11 (133 mpn/100 ml) exceeded the EPA standard of 104 mpn/100 ml.
The Department of Health has posted signs along the area. The site on Lake Ogleton will be resampled on Monday, June 16.
Anyone who comes in contact with the lake water should wash well with soap and warm, clean water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.
