Boat Spills Diesel Fuel in Ego Alley

The Annapolis Harbormaster said that 15 to 20 gallons of fuel spilled from a boat called the AEGIS Sunday morning.

An 85-foot boat called the AEGIS spilled 15 to 20 gallons of diesel fuel into waters in Ego Alley Sunday morning, according to the Capital Gazette.

The U.S. Coast Guard National Oil Spill Response Center and the Maryland Department of the Environment were notified of the situation.

The Coast Guard gave the AEGIS two options for cleanup: Do it themselves or pay to have a contractor called in.

According to the Capital, the AEGIS' captain decided to clean the spill up using his own crew.

The harbormaster staff did provide containment booms and oil spill absorbent materials, which the AEGIS will be billed for.
