Credit Cards Now Accepted at Annapolis Parking Garages

Towne Park makes the change days after being awarded the new contract.

The city awarded a new contract to operate ’ parking garages and lots last week to Towne Park.

And Mayor Josh Cohen said the management company is already working to bring the facilities into the 21st century.

is now accepting credit cards at all four city garages, according to a release from the city.

“This is one of those small things that make a big difference,” Cohen said in the release. “In a technology-based society, it was strange that cash was the only form of payment prior to Towne Park’s upgrades. I know this is just the first of many improvements we will see from Towne Park.”

The seven-year, $1.3 million contract covers all garage-related operating expenses such as payroll, supplies, business expenses and a $5,000 monthly management fee, according to the release.

The budget also includes the lease of more than $900,000 of parking equipment upgrades and $300,000 of parking facility upgrades, including public restrooms at the Hillman garage.

The garages include:

  • —150 Gorman St.
  • —25 Northwest St.
  • Knighton Parking Garage—1A Colonial Ave.
  • —5 Park Place.

This broad-based contract covers management of the Knighton, Gotts and Hillman parking garages and two parking lots. Towne Park has a separate contract with the City for Park Place garage.

The garages were previously managed by Park America.
