Members of the military can play golf at discounted rates on two courses in Anne Arundel County under a new partnership between the county and Fort Meade.
County Executive John R. Leopold announced that all service members can pay reduced fees at Eisenhower Golf Course in Crownsville and in Pasadena.
The partnership comes as Fort Meade prepares there. Plans for a new golf course on base are ongoing and Fort Meade officials had been seeking to partner with other courses in the county to offer inexpensive play.
“These agreements are an example of the partnerships we have worked hard to develop with our county counterparts,” Fort Meade Installation Commander Col. Edward Rothstein said in a press release. “Unfortunately the golf course is a benefit the installation can no longer provide, at least for now. Our county partners have agreed to step in to ensure Team Meade is still able to enjoy the game at a discounted rate."
The fees for play will vary depending on the day of week and time of day and discounts will vary depending on the rank of servicemembers. The county said that a round of golf with a car will cost an enlisted private $29, while most other patrons would pay $45.
Leopold also announced that Compass Pointe and Eisenhower will offer free play to service members on May 1 and May 8. Department of Defense identification is required and it is recommended that golfers call for tee times in advance.
Compass Pointe offers 36 holes, while Eisenhower has 18 holes of play.
