5 Questions with Hanna Mathews, Brooklyn Park Middle Student

Patch profiles the students who won the spelling bee for their school as they get ready to compete in the county competition on Feb. 23.

Anne Arundel Patch: What was the winning word you spelled correctly during your school's spelling bee?
Hanna Mathews:
Anne Arundel Patch: What do you like about your school?
Hanna: I like all subjects at my school but my favorite is Math. I am learning Scientific Notations.
Anne Arundel Patch: Do you participate in extracurricular activities or sports?
Hanna: I am in a magnet school and my prime course of study is Creative Writing and Movement. I am also the Treasurer of our SGA.
Anne Arundel Patch: What do you want to do when you grow up?
Hanna: I would like to volunteer or work at a No Kill animal shelter. I want to go to the Disney College Program and work there afterwards. My hopes are to be an Imagineers for Disney one day!
Anne Arundel Patch: What do you like to do for fun?
Hanna: I love to read books. My favorites are dystopian societies such as The Hunger Games series and currently The Divergent Series. I love to help plan our annual Disney World vacations.  We have been over 25 times and we still find fun and new things to do. I love spending time with my friends and playing outside.

Hanna is one of 32 students set to compete in the 25th annual Anne Arundel County Spelling Bee on Feb. 23. Patch congratulates all of the students on making it to the county competition!
