Annapolis High Student Wins $20K Scholarship

Jasmyn Mackell is named a 2013 Dell Scholar by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.

An Annapolis High School student was one of two in Anne Arundel County named 2013 Dell Scholars by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.

Jasmyn Mackell and Cierra Carter of North County High School in Glen Burnie earned $20,000 scholarships each in addition to a laptop computer and printer, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS).

Patch previously reported that Mackell was honored in January with a Future Leader Award. According to AACPS, Mackell is an AVID student and will be the first in her family to attend college. She is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) student, captain of the volleyball team and a mentor to younger AVID students at Annapolis High.

She plans to enter Emory University in Atlanta, and study mathematics.
