Nancy Almgren, founder and organizer of the Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands, said she loves to see the students of all different musical genres and schools come together every year.
"Where else are you going to get kids from every part of the county?" Almgren asked Saturday night during the 14th annual event at Maryland Hall.
This year's competition featured students from public and private schools, including Strobe Otters from , August of One from and Plan C from .

"Having things for them to do is really significant," Almgren said. "The more vibrant the whole community is for kids, the better. This is just such a great event that brings together some great musicians."
This year's winners were:

- Best drummer: Austin Brown of Stiletto,

Runner up: Jack Hiltabidle of For Your Safety, Severn School - Best bassist: Logan Nyman of Munkfish,
Runner up: Hunter Broddus of Venus Corps, Southern High School - Best vocalist: Vic Stevens of Adahlia, Old Mill High School
Runner up: Jennie Pajerowski of Medora, Archbishop Spalding High School - Best other instrument: Will Lagarde of For Your Safety on piano, Severn School
Runner up: Jill Rohde of Plan C, Indian Creek High School
