MARYLAND CASA IS RECRUITING RUNNERS FOR ITS CHARITY TEAM AT BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL

Child advocacy organization looks to recruit 150 runners and volunteers.

WHAT: Maryland CASA Association is recruiting for runners and walkers for its charity team, Team CASA, that will participate in the Under Armour® Baltimore Running Festival taking place on Saturday, October 13, 2012.  This will be the child advocacy organization’s third year participating in the citywide running event.  Participants will have the opportunity to walk or run in the marathon, half marathon, 5k or team relay to raise funds and awareness about Maryland CASA’s efforts on behalf of victims of child abuse and neglect.  Participants will solicit sponsors and all proceeds will support efforts to recruit more volunteers to advocate for Maryland’s foster children.  Prizes will be given to those who reach designated fundraising levels as well as top fundraisers.  Volunteers are also needed to help plan the event, secure sponsors and help out on the day of the event.

WHEN: The Baltimore Running Festival will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012.  Register by June 30th for the best rates.

WHERE: The festival will be held at M&T Bank Stadium, with race routes throughout the city.

HOW: Participants and volunteers may register online at www.GoTeamCASA.org or contact Maryland CASA at 410.828.6761 to register by mail.

SPONSORS: Past sponsors of Team CASA have included Wells Fargo Bank, Safeway, Bravo Health and MECU.  For sponsorship information, visit www.GoTeamCASA.org or call 410-828-6761.

ABOUT MARYLAND CASA (COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES): Maryland CASA Association is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ensuring the rights of all victims of child abuse and neglect to grow up in safe, permanent homes.  This mission is carried out in partnership with the state’s fifteen Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs, which provide trained volunteer advocates to speak up for the best interests of children.
