Olympics' most decorated athlete, Michael Phelps, 29, a Maryland native, will appear nude in ESPN’s The Magazine Body Issue along with X-games gold medalist Travis Pastrana and his wife.

CBS Baltimore reports 22 athletes will be featured in tasteful nude poses in the “Bodies We Want” section of the issue to celebrate athletic form. The magazine will hit newsstands July 11.

Pastrana is an Annapolis native who is a five-time U.S. amateur motocross champion, the youngest rider to ever represent the United States at the Motocross des Nations in France and the most successful competitor in the history of the X Games freestyle motocross, according to his website.

“We somehow manage to raise the bar each year,” said Chad Millman, ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com editor in chief said, according to ESPN. “This year’s collection of exceptional athletes and stunning photography showcases an array of sports and body types. It inhabits our mission to pay tribute to these athletes’ bodies and all they are capable of.”

Phelps, a Towson native, has recently come out of his retirement, according to a previous Patch story. The 22-time Olympic medalist -- 18 gold -- returned to training last fall. He competed for the first time since the 2012 London Olympics at a meet in Mesa, AZ in April and has been working out with his former team at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.

Phelps rejoined the U.S. drug testing program -- a requirement to enter upcoming international competitions -- sparking rumors last fall that he plans a comeback for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, according to a WBAL-TV story.

But “nothing is set in stone” says Phelps.

Other athletes in ESPN’s “Bodies We Want” section  include surfer Coco Ho, boxer Bernard Hopkins, cliff diver Ginger Huber, Olympic hockey player Hilary Knight, WNBA All-Star Angel McCoughtry, snowboarder Amy Purdy, U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe, BMX rider nigel Sylvester and boxer Danyelle Wolf.

First, Phelps was caught smoking pot. And now this ? Phelps is certainly no role model for today's youth. And some people say that athletes should be role model ?.....well...those days are long gone.

Lord, give us strength to endure! I will be sure to lose my eyeglasses when such an issue comes out & I have to sustain retina damage when going through the grocery line at my local store. LOL!
