The Natural Resources, Environment and Transportation Legislative Office provides valuable assistance in research for legislation coming before the Maryland General Assembly focusing on agriculture, natural resources, energy conservation, efficiency, renewable energy, planning and growth management, environment, and transportation. The NRETLO organizes and monitors task forces and commissions and also conducts research and compiles policy reports. In 2009, the office  worked on Many Shades of Green, of Maryland's Financing Environmental Programs initiative, and compiled the report Cleaning Up the Chesapeake Bay:  An Overview of the New Framework to Guide Restoration Efforts.
