Man admits to filing false report after arrest.
Annapolis police arrested a man for filing a false police report of an alleged armed robbery on May 6. Police arrested Rodell Pinckney, 19, of Annapolis, for reporting that he was robbed of money and his cell phone on May 6 on West Street. Detectives investigated Pinckney's claims and determined them to be false. Pinckney was arrested and charged for filing a false report. "Pinckney was arrested on 05/22 and made a statement admitting it was a false report," according to police. Pinckney is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $5,000 bond, according to a police report.

A man said he had his wallet and cell phone stolen and was threatened with a handgun on May 12
Annapolis Police are investigating the report of a robbery on West Street on May 12. Police said that on Tuesday night, they spoke to a 24-year-old Annapolis man who said that he was robbed more than a week prior. He told the responding officer that he did not report the robbery initially because the suspects had threatened his safety. The alleged victim said that on May 12, he bought a drink from the 7-Eleven store near 114 West St. and then walked across the street to wait for a ride. He said he was approached by two men who demanded his wallet and cell phone. He said one of the men shoved him and then displayed a handgun tucked into his waistband. Police said a stolen car was the cause of a five-car motor vehicle accident on Friday.
Annapolis police said a five-car crash on Friday may have been the result of a botched car theft. An Annapolis police officer responded Friday evening to a report of a collision at the intersection of Charles Street and Cathedral Street. Upon arrival, the officer learned the driver of the vehicle that caused the wrecks had already fled. According to the police report, witnesses said the driver of an Acura struck a parked Ford Mustang, then a parked Mini Cooper, then crossed the street and struck a Ford Taurus, a tree and finally a Lexus before fleeing the vehicle. A woman approached the officer saying she was the owner of the Acura, which she said had been stolen. Her car had been locked, but she kept a valet key in the center console. …

Annapolis police released a photo of a suspect and vehicle involved in a theft on West Street.
The Annapolis Police Department reported three thefts from vehicles in the past week. May 10–At least one suspect stole four tires from a locked vehicle on the 1200 block of West Street. Police released the photos above of the suspect and the vehicle he fled in, described as a red Ford F150 pickup truck with chrome or white trim around the fenders. May 15-16–A suspect used a rock to smash a window of a vehicle on the 800 block of Bay Ridge Avenue, stealing a leather book bag and sunglasses. Police say the copper wire was taken from a construction site on Cedar Park Road.
The Annapolis Police Department reported three burglaries this month where burglars let themselves in without forced entry. May 15—An undisclosed amount of money was taken from a homeowner's purse left downstairs while she was upstairs in the home, according to police. The side door to the home was left unlocked. May 14—Two rolls of copper wire were reported stolen from a construction site in the 1400 block of Cedar Park Road. Approximately 1,200 feet of wire was taken from a room inside the building under construction, but there was no sign of forced entry to the site, according to a police report. Officers say the men robbed the La Belle Cezanne Jewelers in downtown Annapolis.
The Annapolis Police Department arrested three men in connection to the robbery of a jewelry store on Main Street on Tuesday, and said at least two of the men lied to officers about their identities. Police said the three men stole more than $12,000 in jewelry from La Belle Cezanne Jewelers, but were caught after store employees provided a description of their car. All three men were from out of state, and at least one man had four outstanding warrants, according to police. Officers received a call shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, initially reporting only suspicious activity at the store. They later got a second call from store employees claiming that jewelry was taken from the store, with directions on where to find the suspects. …

Most guns were from family members who did not want the weapons of their deceased relatives, according to a release.
Police reported a total of 16 guns and 20 boxes of ammunition were turned in for their first Turn-In Day event on Saturday. The public was given the option to turn in guns anonymously on Saturday, no identification required. The event was part of a statewide effort organized by Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler. In total, the following were given to police during the event: "The most frequent reason given for turning in a gun or ammunition was that it belonged to a deceased relative, and they no longer wanted it in their home," according to a news release. All guns donated to the police will be destroyed, according to the release.
