Man Charged in Connection with Gym Thefts

Anne Arundel County police charged an Annapolis man in connection with at least five thefts from the lockers at 24 Hour Fitness in the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole.

Anne Arundel County police Saturday arrested and charged a man they said is responsible for a series of thefts from 24 Hour Fitness in Parole. Police allege that the man had earlier broken into lockers at the gym and stole wallets from them. He would then use the stolen credit cards at area businesses, according to a police press release. Police charged Roger Stephen Marcus, 43, of the unit block of Hudson Street in Annapolis, with multiple counts of theft and other related charges. Police said gym employees noticed a man walking around inside the gym Saturday afternoon and thought they recognized him from surveillance photos that police had released earlier. Police Looking for Thieves Targeting 24 Hour Fitness

Anne Arundel County police said people reported wallets being stolen from lockers at the gym.

Anne Arundel County police are looking for several men they said stole wallets from lockers inside the 24 Hour Fitness in the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole over the past several months. Police said the men would then use the credit cards in the stolen wallets at Annapolis area stores—including just across the street at Target, according to a release. Incidents reportedly occurred on Nov. 4, Jan. 28, Feb. 6 and Feb. 11. Police said the men used stolen cards at Target in the Nov. 4 incident and at other stores in the area in the other incidents.
