Man Robs 7-Eleven on Defense Highway at Gunpoint

Police say a man made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the register.

A man reportedly used a gun to rob the 7-Eleven on Defense Highway early Saturday morning, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Officers responded to the convenience store around 1:55 a.m. on Saturday for a report of an armed robbery. Police said the man approached the counter, displayed a gun and demanded money. The clerk told police she gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and then the suspect fled in an unknown direction. Police described the suspect as a white man, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 to 180 pounds, and wearing black shoes with green soles. Free Slurpees at Annapolis 7-Elevens Wednesday

Participating 7-Eleven stores will give away free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Every summer 7-Eleven stores nationwide celebrate the company's birthday by giving away free Slurpees on July 11, and this year is no exception. “7-Eleven Day, or free Slurpee Day, gets bigger and more popular every year,” said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven's president and CEO, in a press release. “This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million." According to the release, July 11 marks the 85th birthday for the convenience store retailer, and it's the 45th birthday for its iconic Slurpee drinks. Police Say Man Robbed Bestgate 7-Eleven

Man implied he had a gun and demanded money from the cashier, police said.

Anne Arundel County police said a man robbed the 7-Eleven at 710 Bestgate Rd. Wednesday evening. The store clerk told police a man made a small purchase then implied he was armed with what may have been a handgun and demanded the clerk give him money, according to a press release. The clerk said he gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, police said. The man reportedly ran across Bestgate Road and got in a dark-colored SUV. Police said they are looking for a black man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall with green eyes. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Don't Forget to Get Your Free Slurpee

Greater Annapolis 7-Eleven stores offering 7.11-ounce Slurpees Monday to celebrate the chain's anniversary—7/11/11.

It was a hot one, so why not cool off in the evening with a trip to 7-Eleven for a free slurpee. The convenience store chain is celebrating its birthday by giving each customer a free Slurpee Monday.   According to 7-Eleven, they are inviting patrons to their birthday bash by offering free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks, plus, according to their press release, "general merriment and a one-man dance party—should you choose to start it." Of course the caveat is "while supplies last" on Monday and the merriment started at 12 a.m. You might want to get there sooner rather than later.
