Navy Smashed By Southern Miss, 63-35

Missed opportunities and poor defense did the Midshipmen in against Southern Mississippi. The Golden Eagles racked up 584 yards of offense and 63 points in an offensive outburst.

Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo didn't have much to say after his team's 63-35 loss to Southern Mississippi on Saturday. "It's been a long time since we got our butts whipped like that," Niumatalolo said. "It was a thorough beating." The Mids took their first two drives of the game deep into Southern Miss territory and came away with nothing. The visiting Golden Eagles didn't need much more than that, scoring on their first two possessions, as they ran away with a game in which Niumatatolo said he was out-coached and his team was outplayed. Proctor Runs Navy Past Delaware, 40-17

Senior quarterback Kriss Proctor ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as Navy defeated Delaware, in the Mids season opener.

It took Kriss Proctor all of one minute and 25 seconds to put his mark on the new 2011 season. The senior quarterback from Big Bear City, CA, took the game’s third play from scrimmage 75 yards to the house, as Navy defeated the University of Delaware, 40-17, on Saturday. It was a career-day for Proctor, making just his fourth start for the Mids in his four years. One hundred and seventy-six yards rushing, three scores on the ground and one in the air—the first passing touchdown of his career—led to the lopsided season opening victory for the Mids.
