City Leaders Guess What's In 'Chesapeake Chip' Ice Cream

"Well, what would it be," the flavor's creator asked.

City and business leaders got to taste a new flavor being offered at Annapolis Ice Cream Company—Chesapeake Chip. The tasting was done after a presentation by the Annapolis Visitor's Bureau announcing the launch of city ambassadors this summer, who will serve as tour guides for newcomers. Mayor Josh Cohen, Ashley Ricker of the county executive's office, 2013 Miss Annapolis Jade Kenny, chairman of the bureau Anthony Clarke, and president of the bureau Connie Del Signore all got a taste of the new flavor. But what's in it? Walter Giera, the owner of the Main Street ice cream shop, wouldn't tell before the group took a few bites. Cohen was the first to take a stab. "I think it's A1 steak sauce?" JoJo's Cupcakes & Cream Opens on Main Street

After operating as a cupcake cart at the mall, the business finds a new home downtown.

Annapolis has a new stop for coffee, cupcakes and ice cream: JoJo's Cupcakes & Cream opened its doors at 188 Main St. Friday.  Owners Chris and JoRhea Wright of Easton wanted a location where they would get foot traffic. "When this spot opened up, they jumped on it," said Karyn Hutson, the store's general manager. In less than two months, construction crews transformed the location into an explosion of pink walls and sweet smells, and there is still work to be done. Hutson said the back room, which is now being used as overflow seating, will eventually become a space for birthday parties, mother-daughter baking classes and even book clubs. Sweet tooths rejoice! A new cupcake shop is preparing to open on Main Street in downtown Annapolis. JoJo's Cupcakes & Cream, which is based in Easton, is scheduled to open in May at 188 Main Street, according to the store's Facebook page. The business creates more than 50 varieties of cupcakes and will also serve 32 flavors of Kilby's Cream's ice cream, coffee and cold drinks at the downtown location, the store's website states.  A "help wanted" sign was also posted on the Main Street location's storefront. JoJo's also has locations at a kiosk in the Westfield Annapolis Mall and in the Queenstown Premium Outlets.
