Head to City Dock Sunday for the Grand Illumination

The annual tree lighting ceremony is one of many area activities this Thanksgiving weekend.

What: Grand Illumination Where/When: Performances begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday with the official tree lighting at 7 p.m. at City Dock. Why Go: There will be a performance members of the Chesapeake Ballet Company, a tree lighting, remarks from Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen and refreshments. Cost: Free What: Ice skating Where/When: Quiet Waters Park, Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Why go: Enjoy the feeling of outdoor skating in the brisk autumn air, along with some hot chocolate and not mention some Pit Boys barbecue. Cost: $6 park entry fee per vehicle (free after 5:30 p.m. during ice skating season), skating is $6 for adults and $5 for children and seniors, and $3 skate rentals. What: The Gingerbread Pirates …
