PHOTOS: Open House at Coast Guard Station Annapolis

The crowds came to see lots of equipment on display and learn about boating safety.

The Coast Guard Station Annapolis held an open house on Saturday to raise awareness for boating safety and allow the public to check out the equipment first responders use. The boats, trucks and helicopter were clearly a hit—especially with the younger set. Ten-year-old Ford Hoffmann of Riva said the best part was "going downstairs on one of the boats," but there was something else. "We got to talk into the microphone and you could hear it all over," he said. Adults enjoyed the open house, too. Matthew Abbott, of Annapolis, stopped by to take some photos. Route 50 Accidents Snarl Traffic Wednesday Morning

Tweets describe the scene and the fire department confirmed multiple accidents near Route 2 and the Severn River Bridge shortly before 8 a.m.

A flurry of minor crashes wreaked havoc along Route 50 on Wednesday morning, though there were no reports of injuries.  The Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to as many as five collisions in a short time span just before 8 a.m., said Division Chief Keith Swindle. He said most of the accidents took place in the vicinity of Route 2 and the Severn River Bridge.  Swindle said no one needed to go to the hospital as a result of the collisions.

UPDATE: Four Homes Engulfed in Flames in Heritage Harbour Area

The fire broke out in the 2600 block of Compass Drive near the community's clubhouse.

Updated (4:53 p.m.)—A three-alarm fire involving multiple houses broke out around noon Wednesday on Compass Drive, an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman said. The fire broke out in the rear of a home in the 2600 block of Compass Drive in Annapolis, in the Lighthouse Villas neighborhood near Heritage Harbour, an active adult community. The fire then spread to three adjacent residences.  Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACFD) Chief Keith Swindle said the fire was active and "not under control," at 12:30 p.m., but by 1 p.m. the fire had been contained. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, Swindle said. PHOTO: Car Flips on Admiral Drive

Fire officials said one adult suffered minor injuries in the accident on Monday.

Anne Arundel County fire officials said one adult was transported with minor injuries after a crash on Admiral Drive on Monday morning. Division Chief Keith Swindle, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said crews responded to the 400 block of Admiral Drive at 11:29 a.m. Monday morning for a crash. The car was flipped upside down, but Swindle said there was no entrapment. According to Swindle, medics transported one adult to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.

No Injuries in School Bus Crash on Solomon's Island Road

The bus was off duty and no children were on board.

A school bus and a sports utility vehicle were involved in a crash on Solomon's Island Road near West Street around 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The bus was off duty and no children were on board, according to Anne Arundel County Police.  Fire Department spokesman Michael Pfaltzgraff said only property damage was reported and emergency personal did not need to transport anyone to the hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Two Injured in Three Car Accident on Route 50

Emergency personnel transported two people with serious but non-life threatening injuries to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Two people were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 450. Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Mike Pfaltzgraff said emergency crews responded a little after two p.m. on Wednesday. They transported a 20-year-old female and a 50-year-old female by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Two Injured in Crash on West Street

County officials say two people were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Two people were taken to the hospital after a car crash at Route 50 and West Street in Annapolis on Tuesday afternoon. Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Keith Swindle said emergency personal responded the crash around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. They transported two people to Anne Arundel Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Swindle did not know the age or gender of the patients.

Multiple Boat Fire At Bay Ridge Community Marina

The fire damaged two boats and destroyed another on Saturday evening.

A fire destroyed one boat and damaged two others at the Bay Ridge Community Marina on Saturday evening, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Firefighters responded to a call about a boat fire in the unit block of East Lake Drive around 5:30 p.m., spokesman Michael Pfaltzgraff said. When they arrived, they saw one 20-foot boat was already fully engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation and Pfaltzgraff did not have an estimate on damages. Firefighters Battle Blaze Near Board of Ed Building

There were nearly 30 firefighters on the scene near some garages on Riva Road.

Firefighters responded to a blaze impacting some garages near the Board of Education building in Annapolis on Monday morning. Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded shortly after 7:15 a.m. There were 28 firefighters from Annapolis City and Anne Arundel County on the scene. The fire caused significant delays along Riva Road during the morning rush hour.
