Nineteen members of the Annapolis Triathlon Club complete Ironman Wisonsin together.
Until this year, I could count on one hand the number of people I knew who wanted to visit Wisconsin and still have room to count the number of people I knew who wanted to run an Ironman. But now, thanks to the Annapolis Triathlon Club, that is no longer true. After months of training and racing together, 19 members of the Annapolis Triathlon Club flew out to race Ironman Wisconsin, including at least two married couples, one cancer survivor, a handful of first-time Ironman competitors and even more Ironman veterans. Local charity ride gives local cyclists an opportunity to enjoy scenic views close to home.
This past Saturday morning, cyclists from all over Maryland gathered to complete the Bay Country Century Ride. Though much of the proceeds from the ride go to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, officially categorizing this as a charity ride, it is different from other charity rides in that it is organized by cyclists for cyclists. The Bay Country Century is organized by the Annapolis Bicycle Racing Team and sponsored by Bike Doctor of Annapolis. Because the organizers have ridden their fair share of centuries over the years they know what is important to other riders.
