Thieves Steal $18,000 in Car Parts from Annapolis Dealership

Koons Toyota reported that the catalytic converters from 11 trucks were stolen off their lot sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Someone broke into Koons Toyota on 1107 West St. and stole nearly $18,000 worth of new car parts sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning, Annapolis police said. The cars were inside a fenced in lot. A thief or thieves pulled apart a section of the fence on Smithville Street and unbolted the catalytic converters from 11 trucks. A catalytic converter helps to control a vehicle's emissions by converting toxic byproducts of combustion into less toxic emissions. Police said that each converter had an an estimated value of $1,630, for a total loss of $17,930.
