Snowden Resigns From Maryland Attorney General's Office

The director for civil rights was convicted of misdemeanor possession of marijuana in November.

Maryland's Attorney General's Office has confirmed that Carl Snowden resigned as the office's director for civil rights effective Jan. 8. "Because the letter is a personnel matter, we are not disclosing any of the contents of the letter," Deputy Communications Director Alan Brody said. "If he wants to do so, he is free to do so." Snowden, who is also the chairman of Housing Authority for the City of Annapolis (HACA), was convicted of misdemeanor possession of marijuana in November. He was arrested in April with co-defendant Anthony Hill after Baltimore City police officers discovered a cigar containing marijuana in the center cup holder of Snowden's 2010 Honda Pilot.
