A Fair Full of Sounds
Music, old-fashioned fun draws people to the Anne Arundel County Fair.
With a Ferris wheel, pig races and the ever-iconic funnel cake, there are a number of time-honored traditions that drew people out to the 58th annual Anne Arundel County Fair on Sunday. The fairgrounds, located just outside of Annapolis on Generals Highway in Crownsville, attract people from all over the county and surrounding areas. For Sidney Kirschner and Lynne Mastersen, it was all about the music. While hundreds of patrons shuffled down vendor-lined walkways, sounds of the county fair could be heard from all over the grounds. At a sparsely attended performance, the quick talking of the cake auctioneer and enthusiastic yelps of children gave way to the plucked banjo and deep upright bass of Jericho Bridge, an area bluegrass band.
