Dwyer Thanks Supporters on Facebook After Boat Crash

Del. Don Dwyer thanked people "who have supported me with your prayers and comments" after he admitted to drinking before crashing his boat last week.

Anne Arundel County Del. Don Dwyer (R- Pasadena) took to Facebook Thursday night to thank his supporters who have stood by him after he admitted to drinking before he crashed his boat earlier this month. The post reads: "I just want to thank all of you who have supported me with your prayers and comments. I have a long road in front of me but I assure you, I will make it past this earthly trial. Please keep me and those injured in your prayers." It's the first public comments made by Dwyer since the Republican held a press conference the day after the crash where he admitted to drinking and appeared to confirm his blood alcohol content was above the legal .08 level. Republican Central Committee Releases Statement on Boat Crash

The Anne Arundel County group acknowledges that "many questions still remain after Delegate Dwyer's statements" about Wednesday night's boat crash in Pasadena.

The Republican State Central Committee of Anne Arundel County released a statement late Thursday night regarding the boat accident that occurred in Pasadena on Wednesday evening. The accident involved Del. Don Dwyer (R-Pasadena) and former Central Committee member John Moran. At a press conference on Thursday, Dwyer admitted that he had been drinking prior to the crash that injured seven people including some children. Committee Chairman Alan Rzepkowski released the following statement on behalf of the central committee. "First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those injured in the accident and their families, particularly as we await information on the welfare of the children involved. Dwyer Admits Drinking Before Boat Crash

Del. Don Dwyer, of Pasadena, told reporters no one should be drinking while operating a boat or any other motor vehicle.

Del. Don Dwyer (R-Pasadena) admitted to drinking before a boat crash on Wednesday in Anne Arundel County. Dwyer, sitting in a wheelchair and wearing a neck brace and a cast on his left foot, made the announcement during a brief press conference on Thursday outside of University of Maryland Hospital in downtown Baltimore, and refused to answer questions from reporters. "It is true that I was drinking while I was operating my boat yesterday. It's also been reported that my blood alcohol content was .2. if anyone owes anyone an apology here, it's Dwyer to those children..... especially that little girl who is still suffering because of him. He's sooooooooo lucky none of them died. Only by a miracle. He is not taking responsibility for his actions by trying to make excuses and get out of this. he needs to step down and focus on getting his life together and an alcohol treatment program.   more ›
