Police Chief Says Eastport Shootings Weren't Random

Annapolis police believe that the double shooting that took place in Eastport on Sept. 9 was not a random attack.

The two men shot in Eastport on Sept. 9 may have known their attacker(s), Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop said Monday night. "The investigation has led us to be fairly certain that the shootings were not a random act," Pristoop told Annapolis Patch in an interview. "I'm confident the community is not at further risk ... I'm hopeful that we will be able to make an arrest in these cases." On Sept. 9 police officers found Linwood Hall, 22, of Annapolis, and Deray Brown, 27, of Severna Park shot in the area surrounding Eastport Terrace. Brown was treated for a gunshot wound to his back at the trauma unit of the Prince George's Hospital Center and released on Sept. 10. Hall is still a patient at Maryland's Shock Trauma Center in …

City Wrangles With Eastport Shooting

The Annapolis Police Department has increased patrols in Eastport due to Sunday night's double shooting, but some council members question whether it's enough.

More police will be walking and driving through the streets of Eastport's public housing in the wake of a double shooting late Sunday evening but some elected officials wondered whether that was enough. The shooting left a 22-year-old Annapolis man in critical condition after he suffered shots to the head, back and buttocks. A 27-year-old Severna Park man was released Monday morning after being treated for a gunshot wound to the back. So far, there have been no arrests. It's the second shooting to occur in the area this year. In June, Orlando Sherman McDaniel, 29, of Annapolis died as a result of gunshots wounds he suffered near the 1100 block of Madison Street in the Harbour House community.
