Gas Price in Greater Annapolis Jumps, Of Course

The price of a gallon of regular increased more than a dime in the past week, according to AAA. Approaching record high of three years ago.

This week, Mid-Atlantic AAA reported the average cost of a gallon of regular fuel in the Baltimore region, which includes Greater Annapolis, was $3.71. That’s up 11 cents per gallon from the average price of $3.60 last week. The price is a dime short of being a dollar more than the price for this week last year, when it was $2.81 for a gallon of regular gas. The record high was in June 2008 when the price for a gallon of regular was $4.02, according to AAA records. Statewide, AAA said the average price for a gallon of regular was $3.72, 11 cents more than the average in Maryland a week ago. Once again, that’s significantly higher than the statewide average for this time last year, when the price was $2.83. That’s an 89 cent jump in price. …

Dislike the cost comparison of gas stations, as there is an implication one should want to drive to a farther station to save a buck or two on gas. This mentality is what would greatly harm the Annapolis Neck peninsula if/when Giant puts a "discount" gas station in to draw cars down our peninsula. Is it worth the traffic and lack of circulation mobility to our existing small businesses who …   more ›

Bay Ridge Giant gas station - Board of Appeals mtg to decide, April 5 at 7 pm. Annapolitans should be letting their City and County representatives know their feelings on this project up for a special exemption by Planning and Zoning. Do we really need the rest of the metro area clogging up Forest Drive to save 20 cents on their gas? Raise your concerns now, folks, or forever hold your peace. …   more ›

Kristin- We always fall back on old favorites in the winter: mac & cheese, chicken casseroles, etc. I've noticed in the cold months, my kids are always underfoot in the kitchen at meal prep time. On good days (when my patience is at full strength :) I find that if I involve them in making dinner (like stirring, mixing, etc.) they are more likely to enjoy eating. I have asked them to plan a night'…   more ›

Even Better Than a Home-Cooked Meal

A new regular feature for Greater Annapolis Patch will help give your family an idea of somewhere to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner this weekend.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Greater Annapolis Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice: Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer’s Market: The workers may not be from Greater Annapolis, but the market, known locally as the Amish Market, has been a staple in the Annapolis Harbour Center for years. All of the merchants are from Lancaster, PA, including the cooks in the restaurant who whip up hearty meals using traditional Pennsylvania Dutch recipes. It is exactly what you think of you think of “homemade” meals, only better. The restaurant, decorated with scenic murals of rural life on the farm, …
