Annapolis runner Hale Bullen appeared in the Feb. 18 issue of 'Sports Illustrated.'
Annapolis High School track star Hale Bullen is gaining some national attention. The senior runner was featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd Section,” on Feb. 18. The column highlights outstanding high school athletes. Bullen has been making a name for himself during this indoor track season. At a meet in January, Bullen beat Olympian Matthew Centrowitz's meet record in the 3200-meter run by more than 20 seconds. On Jan. 29, at the Anne Arundel County indoor track championship, Bullen ran the 3200 meters in 9:18.01 seconds—topping Centrowitz's former meet record of 9:40.80 According to Sports Illustrated, Bullen also won the 2012 Maryland 3A cross-country title and was named All-Metro cross-country runner by The Baltimore …

Senior Hale Bullen beat Olympian Matt Centrowitz's meet record in the 3200-meter run on Tuesday.
An Annapolis High School track star has beaten a local Olympian's record in the 3200-meter run by more than 20 seconds. At an Anne Arundel County indoor track championship meet on Tuesday, Annapolis High senior Hale Bullen ran the 3200 meters in 9:18.01 seconds—topping Olympian Matthew Centrowitz's former meet record of 9:40.80. According to an email from Annapolis High, during the race Hale lapped the entire field and received a last lap standing ovation. Centrowitz, a graduate of Broadneck High School, was just four hundredths of a second away from a bronze medal in the finals for men's 1,500-meter race at the summer Olympics.
