Here's some quick and easy costume ideas that can be made with stuff you already have in the house (hopefully).
Costumes don't have to be expensive to be great. And they don't have to be store-bought. There's probably already stuff in your home that you can use to make one-of-a-kind costumes. We're talking about finding the knick-knacks in every home and creating an awesome outfit that’ll give you the “I’m walking away with the best costume award” kind of swagger. To get you started, here are a few ideas of costumes you can make from household materials. That's what we intend to find out with your photos and the help of celebrity judge Heidi Klum, who will select the Grand Prize winner. The Grand Prize? Patch will whisk the winner to New York or Los Angeles for a three day, two night trip for two that includes a meet and greet with Heidi, plus a donation of $1,031 to a local charity of the winner's choice. Residents of Anne Arundel County looking for a fright this Halloween need to look no further than their own backyard. Just across the Severn line in Jessup sits the No. 1 ranked haunted house in Maryland, according to HauntWorld.com. Operated by brothers Allan Bennett and Tony Bennett, Bennett's Curse Haunted Attraction draws more than 20,000 guests a season and employs around 70 actors, make-up artists and support staff. Children know when Halloween is. It's Oct. 31. The date is easy to remember—and fun to participate in. You get to dress up and be anything you want for the night and people give you candy for it. In addition, you get to stay up past your bed time and wander around the neighborhood after dark with your friends. But what would happen if the grownups intervened and made Halloween always fall on a Saturday? They'd do it, of course, for grown-up reasons. This weekend is Halloween weekend and everyone is gearing up for costume parties and trick-or-treating. Why not whip up some treats for yourself? We asked Patch readers and contributors to suggest some Halloween-themed recipes to share with the rest of us.
