City Dock Restaurant Closes One Month After Opening

The Crown and Anchor shut its doors for good on Oct. 30 citing permitting issues with Annapolis.

Five weeks after opening its doors on City Dock, the Crown and Anchor announced it would be closing. The announcement was made on the company's Facebook Page, and stated that "many unforeseen problems have arisen concerning permits and usage." The restaurant located at 12 Dock St. used to be one location that was owned by Phillip's Seafood. The property was legally split into two spaces when the National Sailing Center and Hall of Fame bought the deck portion in 2009.  The center plans to convert the space into a museum, but fundraising is going slower than expected. Phillip's re-opened on the deck portion of the building in August, calling it Phillip's Crab Deck. The company anticipates the deck will be open for two years while the center…
