Students Play in All-County Orchestra

Students from Annapolis schools will participate in the concert at Meade High on Dec. 11.

Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor Jose-Luis Novo slowly plodded through Suite No. 1 from Carmen, working on bowings and interpretation. "This feels very stiff to me, not flexible," he told a group of students. "This music requires us to be more fluid." More than 200 county students traveled to Meade High School on Dec. 10 to make beautiful music together as the All-County High School and Middle School Orchestras held full group rehearsals for their upcoming weekend concert. When choosing the music to play for the upcoming concert, Novo said that he wanted pieces that were challenging and some that were just fun.  Besides the Carmen, students will play Percy Grainger's "Shepherd's Hey" and, for something completely…
