Bay Ridge Residents Fighting Demo of 1920s House

Those opposed to the demolition say they would like to preserve the older homes in Bay Ridge as part of community's history.

Since the 1920s, the stucco house with Spanish tile roof has sat along Bay Drive in Bay Ridge with a majestic view out to Thomas Point light and beyond. Unlike many homes along the street, this one has not been torn down and replaced. And that is why some residents of Bay Ridge oppose the proposed demolition of the house by its new owners.    The 2,982-square-foot house on a quarter-acre lot sold for $1.375 million in June 2012 to Robert and Lisa Lutz of Virginia, according to public records.   "I saw them taking a picture of the house after they bought it," said Prudence Miller, who lives in Bay Ridge. Agency Offers Space for Lease in Forest Drive Building

The consolidation of the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund has created a huge leasing opportunity in the building located at at 1750 Forest Drive in Annapolis.

A large portion of the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF) building on Forest Drive is currently for lease, offering about 36,000 square feet of space. MAIF is an independent agency of the state of Maryland, tasked with providing automotive liability insurance for those unable to get it through private companies. The building has served as the agency's headquarters since the late 1970s, according to MAIF Executive Director Kent Krabbe. The left or western side of the single-story building is the space for lease.
