Matt Diehl, county spokesman, said the rush-hour lane closures were necessary on Wednesday because the contractor had to use heavy equipment to unload several truckloads of 20-foot pipes. “We apologize for the inconvenience to motorists as we work to improve the reliability of our utility infrastructure,” Diehl said in an email to Patch. “Despite the use of flaggers for safety and the contractor’s adherence to the Maintenance of Traffic plan detailed in their contract, they have been instructed to only unload future deliveries …

The improvements to the Park and Ride facility off of Riva Road in Annapolis should be completed by spring.
As snow covers Greater Annapolis, many residents may already be gearing up for the warmth of spring. For those who commute to Washington D.C. using the Harry S. Truman Parkway Park and Ride, spring will also bring an added bonus — more parking spots. While commuters are currently dealing with construction at the lot run by the State Highway Administration (SHA), the work should be completed by spring, according to SHA spokesman Charlie Gischlar. "Construction is about 55 percent complete," said Gischlar in an e-mail interview. The project, which "isn't completely stopped due to weather," won't be fully completed until area temperatures rise. "Final completion, weather permitting, will not be until early spring when temperatures will allow …
