Volunteer Opportunities In and Around Annapolis

Have some extra time to share this week? Here's some ideas to narrow your search.

  Cats R Us Inc., shelters in Annapolis and Arnold Volunteers, age 8 and older, are needed to assist with cleaning the shelters, to attend adoption shows at PetSmart in Annapolis, to make cat/kitten home deliveries, or to sit and spend time with wonderful cats. Plan to Volunteer on Make a Difference Day

The "national day of doing good" is set for Oct. 22 and there are several events already planned and just waiting for volunteers.

Millions of Americans will volunteer on Make A Difference Day, which is set for Oct. 22 and touted as a "national day of doing good" sponsored by the HandsOn Network and USA WEEKEND. Find volunteer projects in Maryland by asking the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County or Prince George's Volunteer Center. The Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County suggests contacting the following groups to volunteer on Oct. 22 in the region:  Bello Machre Volunteers are needed on Oct. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. for help with the Make a Difference Day Picnic. Volunteer Opportunities for Youth Throughout Anne Arundel County

Volunteers of all ages can give back to their communities while learning new skills and gaining experience.

Volunteering can be a rewarding experience for youth, whether they want to help those less fortunate, meet new people or earn service learning hours. Our region has many opportunities for youth to get involved in their communities. The Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County offers a special Youth Volunteer Guide (attached to this article as a PDF) that lists more than 50 agencies offering volunteer opportunities through 2012.
