Where to Buy an iPhone 5 Friday in Annapolis

The latest version of Apple's superphone hits the shelves Friday morning.

If you're one of those people that just needs the iPhone 5 as soon as it's available, local stores will be making accommodations for you for the Sept. 21 release. Large crowds are predicted at the Westfield Annapolis mall Apple store, said mall spokeswoman Barbara Feldes.  The mall will open its doors at 8 a.m. Friday. People who want to make sure they get the phone first can line up beforehand by the first-floor entrance in the red garage next to J.C. Penney. But don't try to line up Thursday night. "We do not allow people to camp overnight on the walkways or anything," Feldes said. "People have to stay inside their cars." Feldes said representatives from Apple will be outside handling the line at 5 a.m. until the mall officially opens at…

Annapolis Mall Upgrades Its iPhone App

The free app now allows mall shoppers to search for sales, buy movie tickets and even make dinner reservations.

Have you ever wondered what sales were going on at the Westfield Annapolis Mall? Or have you wanted to compare prices without going store to store? How about trying to remember where you parked your car? A recent upgrade to the mall's free iPhone app allows users to do just that. “We had such an enthusiastic response to the original version of the Westfield App,” Alan Cohen, executive vice president of Marketing, said in a press release. “After studying the feedback of hundreds of thousands of our shoppers, we found that the majority wanted two things: to get around the mall easier and to save money. Westfield App v2.0 accomplishes both of these things.” The Westfield App v2.0 is available on iTunes and has five different screens that …

PHOTOS: Hundreds Line Up for Forever 21 Opening

The opportunity to snag one of 300 gift cards to the new store in Westfield Annapolis mall brought approximately 350 people out Saturday morning.

Forever 21's new, two-story location in Westfield Annapolis mall opened Saturday to huge crowds, thanks to a giveaway of 300 gift cards. Approximately 350 people lined up starting at 7 a.m. Saturday for their chance to be the lucky winner to take home a $210 gift card. The Hawkins family camped out in the mall parking lot the night before to ensure their prime spots towards the front of the line. The group joked around and relaxed on the floor for nearly three hours before the doors opened at 10 a.m. Sheree Hawkins said the group would pool their money should any of them win the $210 gift card, but her brother George Hawkins joked that "we'll lay them out for it." The store gave out 300 gift cards, but only one of them was worth $210. The …

The Annapolis Pottery Opens Second Location

It's not a joke, the local business has expanded to the Westfield Annapolis Mall.

The Annapolis Pottery has expanded to the Westfield Annapolis Mall—for real. The local business caused a stir in the community when, as an April Fool's joke, it sent out an email stating that it would set up shop at the Market House, a historic space on the city dock. The email informed residents that the business would add two new floors to the building and a waterslide that would dump users into the water near Ego Alley. Some residents were upset by the news, but others were very excited, said Lydia Ferwerea, a studio manager for the business. "We were getting a lot of calls," she said. The Westfield location opened on Friday, and serves as a compliment to the downtown flagship store, located at 40 State Circle.  "We were looking to grow…

What New Restaurant Would You Like To See?

Patch asks readers what they'd like to see at Westfield Annapolis mall.

There could be a new dining option this fall at Westfield Annapolis mall. If it were up to you, what restaurant would you like to see come to town? Wayne Tolx, general manager of Four Seasons Grille, told Patch the restaurant is considering opening a new location at the mall in October. County residents currently must travel to Gambrills for the opportunity to dine at Four Seasons Grille, which specializes in American and Mediterranean cuisines. However, it appears the deal isn't done yet. "We have not yet confirmed that the Four Seasons Grille is coming to the center yet, as we do not have a signed lease," wrote Christi Wallace, marketing director at Westfield Annapolis, in an email to Patch. Austin Grill closed its doors in December and …
