Police say someone broke into an Annapolis home Friday night and stole $6,200 worth of jewelry, clothing and electronics. Officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of Kensington Way around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning for a report of a burglary. The woman told police she left the house around 7 p.m. on Friday and returned home to find her living room television missing and glass on her kitchen floor. She left the house and called police. When the woman searcher her home with officers she discovered that a Panasonic video camera, a Nikon digital camera, a Vizio 47-inch flat screen television, a Dynex 27-inch flat screen television, four pair of Seven brand jeans, two diamond rings and some costume jewelery were stolen. Anne Arundel County police say a man shot his estranged wife and himself early Monday morning.
UPDATE (10:50 a.m.)—A Bowie man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after a murder-suicide attempt in the 300 block of Harry S. Truman Parkway early Monday morning, according to Anne Arundel County police. Officers responded to the scene around 1 a.m. on Monday, and found two people with gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced 50-year-old Calvin Cofield—who police believe to be the gunman—dead at the scene. Tracy Lynn West, 43, of Crownsville was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to police. Police said that West is the estranged wife of Cofield. Annapolis police have charged Charles Spriggs and William Chase with first-degree murder.
Detectives arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting in Annapolis less than 24 hours after officers discovered the victim in the Bywater community. Annapolis police said Charles Spriggs, 25, of Annapolis, and William Chase, 19, of Capital Heights, were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with the death of Howard Durley. Police responded to the 1900 block of Copeland Street around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They reportedly discovered Durley laying near the rear of a residence with a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel pronounced Durley dead at the scene. Witnesses helped officers identify Spriggs and Chase, and police said the investigation revealed that the crime was not a random act. Two men stole money and cigarettes from an Annapolis CVS on Thursday morning, according to Anne Arundel County police. Officers responded to the drug store in the 2600 block of Riva Road shortly before 2 a.m. for a report of a commercial robbery. Employees told police that two men entered the store and demanded money. The pair stole an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes before fleeing the store. Neither man displayed a gun or implied that he had a weapon, police said. This CVS location was also robbed in September 2012 when a man stole an undisclosed amount of prescription medication from the pharmacist at around 2 a.m. Officers searched the area after Thursday's robbery with a K-9 unit, but they were unable to locate the suspects.

Annapolis police found a man fatally shot in the 1900 block of Copeland Street around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers responded to the Bywater Mutual Homes community for a report of a person who was on the ground outside a residence. They found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Police have not released the man's identity pending family notification. This is the first fatal shooting in Annapolis this year. In 2012, two fatal shootings occurred: one at Eastport Terrace and one at Robinwood. Both properties are owned by Annapolis' Housing Authority. Police have not made an arrest in either case. Police say a woman returned to her car to find her rear passenger window broken.
Someone stole $440 worth of clothing from a car in the parking lot of Rockfish Restaurant on Monday night, according to Annapolis police. Officers responded to the restaurant in the 400 block of Sixth Street around 11:30 p.m. A woman met them and told police that her passenger window was broken out, and she was missing a L.L. Bean tote bag, a North Face jacket and a leather jacket. Police said they found a "copious amount of broken glass" both inside and outside the vehicle. The Eastport restaurant received a special exception permit in January to build a rooftop deck for outdoor dining from the city's Board of Appeals. Someone broke into an area medical clinic and stole medications, money and blank prescription pads, according to Annapolis police. Officers responded to the Community Health Center in the 1400 block of Forest Drive on Monday morning for a report of a burglary. The manager told police that when she came to work on Monday around 8:30 a.m., the safe in the office was open and the $541 placed inside it on Friday was missing. She also told police that a pack of printable prescription pads worth about $600 and four vials of the HPV vaccine were missing. When officers searched the area, they found tool marks on the front and side doors to the office. They also discovered similar tool marks on the locked cabinet where the safe was kept. Police …

A female repossession agent had a gun pulled on her by two men in the 1100 block of Madison Street on Monday, according to Annapolis Police. Police said the Thomas Repo LLC agent pulled up next to a 2005 Acura—for which she had repossession papers—in a parking lot around 4:30 p.m. She told police she was about to get out of her car to verify the Acura's VIN number when she saw two men walking toward her. One man grabbed a roof rack on the rear of her car, and the other man approached the driver side window and pointed a silver handgun at the agent. Someone stole a motorcycle from the carport of an Annapolis home sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning, according to city police. The owner told police the black 2007 Suzuki GSXR 750 was missing from the carport in the unit block of Hicks Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The motorcycle—which police value at $4,000—had a dead battery, a loose chain and bad breaks. It has a Maryland license place numbered 1D1646.

The ungraded papers were inside a tote bag stolen from a teacher's car.
Some fifth-grade students at Annapolis Elementary are getting a pass on their homework: A thief stole a tote bag with their assignments from a teacher's car. Annapolis police responded to Evolution Gym in the 1800 block of George Avenue on Thursday around 7 p.m. The teacher told police that she entered the gym about an hour earlier to exercise and locked her green tote bag in her car. She returned to her car to find the front window broken and the tote bag missing. Inside the bag were papers submitted by her students that still needed to be graded.
