Principal Named for Phoenix Academy
The state-of-the-art center in Annapolis will offer special education and alternative education services to more than 200 students.
The appointment of John Thompson as the inaugural principal of the Phoenix Academy was recently approved by the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. This news comes as construction progresses on the new facilities for Phoenix Academy, which will be housed in the former Germantown Elementary building on Cedar Park Road. Phoenix Academy will offer special education and alternative education services to about 240 students beginning next year. According to Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), Thompson is currently assistant principal at Phoenix Annapolis and was assistant principal at Annapolis High School from 2009 until this year.
